Unless you use it for reaching out your goals!
Hey! Do you know what is your passion? Or Have you been struggling to figure out what you are passionate about?
Passion is a strong feeling- it is more than just enthusiasm or excitement; it is an ambition that drives you closer to your dream goals. Your passion could be anything like singing, dancing, cooking or traveling! Anything that you feel strongly about, which compels you to take risks and push you past your current limits. For example, the passion to be artistic- to create your imagination into reality.
“Passion gives you the motivation to keep trying, even if you fail time after time” – David A. Hunter
Do you know the one quality Steve Jobs looked for while hiring for Apple? It’s PASSION. Steve used to believe,” people who are passionate about what they do and are experts at what they do, are self-motivated, they are self-driven. They don’t need to work with people from whom they cannot learn anything.”
Why is Passion important?
Passion is like fuel to your dreams. When you have passion for something, you love it and will work harder for it. It can push you through difficult times to make a better version of yourself. It is a strong desire that gets you to do incredible things. It gives you a reason to keep learning and work toward mastering that specific interest and turning it into a success. The people who have achieved greatest success in their professional and personal lives, are passionate people who lead, support, mentor others with that ecstasy for work. These passionate workers are internally motivated through their desire to quest, connect and make an impact.
“A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion not position” – John C Maxwell
But how do we understand what we are passionate about?
- Explore yourself. Explore the things that you love and could do with your eyes shut!
- Grasp the qualities that you enjoy expressing the most.
- Try to have a clear vision of yourself. Follow your inner guidance. You can take some time to recall about your past experiences and think about what made you feel right about your life.
- Ask yourself some self-reflective questions like
- What are the things that you enjoy doing without getting bored?
- Where do you see yourself in the next coming years?
- What career do you want to pursue in the near future?
- What do you want to change about yourself?
- Try to be clear about your life purpose. Have goals. Align your goals with your life purpose and passion. Because passion without purpose is ‘like a shot without target’ as said by Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha.
“Passion, it lies in all of us, sleeping… waiting… and though unwanted… unbidden… it will stir… open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us… guides us… passion rules us all, and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love… the clarity of hatred… and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we’d know some kind of peace… but we would be hollow… Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we’d be truly dead.” – Joss Whedon
Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the greatest German music composer and pianist of the world, sets an extraordinary example of passion. Beethoven was influenced by popular music and folk music and at the age of 25, while he was gaining popularity in the specific field, he began to realize that he was losing his hearing. He was disheartened, as his playing degenerated because of his partial hearing but nothing could stop him from following his passion for music. He would go for walk in the country side looking for inspiration with his sketchbook. In spite of losing his hearing, he wrote some of the most beautiful songs the world has ever known. Beethoven proved that music isn’t just for ears, it’s a feeling that comes from within your heart and soul through which you can express your emotions. Today his legacy is carried on by many deaf or hard of hearing musicians who could express themselves through music. (encyclopaediaBritannica.com)
“Music is a higher revelation than philosophy.Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life.Music is the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend.Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.Only the pure in heart can make a good soup.Friends applaud, the comedy is over.Nothing is more intolerable than to have to admit to yourself your own errors. What you are, you are by accident of birth; what I am, I am by myself. There are and will be a thousand princes; there is only one Beethoven.I want to seize fate by the throat.” -Ludwig van Beethoven
